Eid Milan & Health Seminar

On Friday 28th September the British Muslim Association of Merton (BMAM) held an Eid party and seminar on Health & Wellbeing in the Council Chamber of Merton Civic Centre, Morden.

The Imam of Kingston Mosque, Imam Qari Abde Samad spoke on the significance of Islamic festival Eid. Speakers from ‘Live Well’ and ‘Alive N Kicking’ contributed to the health seminar. Physical health checks for Blood Pressure and Body Mass Index were provided by health professionals. The Health & Wellbeing project was jointly funded by the Church Urban Fund and London Catalyst (formerly known as the Metropolitan Hospital – Sunday Fund). The event was attended by a large number of the public. A light programme of musical performances was presented by children. Dinner was provided at the end.

The guests of honour were Mr Stephen Hammond (MP for Wimbledon & Under Secretary of State for Transport), Ms Siobhain McDonagh (MP for Mitcham & Morden), Leader of the Council Cllr Stephen Alambritis, Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group Cllr Henry Nelless and a number of local Councillors and other dignitaries.
